On Saturday and Sunday, April 8th and 9th, a KOKUA test ride event was held at Kako Oike Pond in Inami Town, Hyogo Prefecture, sponsored by outdoor gear shop Heimat berg James Mountain & Garage Camp Store.

Kako Oike Pond, where the test ride was held, is a large reservoir that becomes a windsurfing slope when the wind blows. The Higashi-Harima region, including Inami Town, has no large water sources nearby and is an area with a large number of reservoirs. These reservoirs, which are usually closed off, have been opened up to create walking paths and are open for marine activities such as fishing, windsurfing, and SUP. The reservoirs are not just used as a water source, but are being used effectively to revitalize the region.
Being a reservoir, the water quality isn't particularly outstanding, but the area is large enough that you can see the whole area and safely enjoy SUP. There are no large buildings blocking the view, so it's a pleasant field where you can feel the sunlight on your whole body.
On the first day (8th), strong winds caused participants to be blown around by the wind, making it difficult to paddle, but on the second day (9th), the weather was clear and windless, perfect for a test ride, and about 60 people participated over the two days.
As it was a test ride event hosted by an outdoor shop, many participants came to test ride the MAKUA GLIDE and HOLO HOLO. A test ride event for packrafts was also held at the same time.
Many participants said that they had the image of SUP as a relaxing activity where you float on the water, but after actually paddling, they rediscovered the joy of paddling.Many also said that they would like to continue enjoying SUP by connecting it to activities they are good at.
More and more people are incorporating SUP as a way to enjoy outdoor activities and camping.
One of the joys of camping is getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, pitching a tent in nature, making a fire, and enjoying the leisurely passage of time, but having a SUP adds an extra dimension to the fun.
I woke up to the morning sun from my tent pitched on the lakeside, and headed straight out onto the lake. After a quick paddle to work up a sweat, I jumped in to cool down.

Heimat berg james mountain & Garage Camp Store , which hosted this test ride, not only sees camping as a fun activity in itself, but also proposes it as a means to enjoy outdoor activities for longer and more deeply.
KOKUA also offers the MAKUA series as a model specialized for outdoor use, and in the future, camping, outdoor activities, and SUP will all be used as tools to enjoy nature together, making things even more interesting.
KOKUA test drive events are scheduled to be held in various locations from June onwards.
