On Sunday, March 19th, the Kita Shimoura Hometown Marathon was held at Nobi Beach in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
This is the world's first marathon event in which a land marathon (RUN) and a sea marathon (SUP) are run simultaneously on a beachside course.
This event, in which participants run alongside marathon runners along the coast, is being held for the first time in four years due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the day, a low pressure system passed along the south coast, causing strong northerly winds from early morning through the morning, making conditions difficult for beginners.
Ranai Ozawa from Team Generation Next will be competing in this tournament.
He made a good start in the sea, where the strong north wind and backwash made his feet difficult to move, and after a fierce battle with the leading competitor, he secured victory in the final beach run.
Below is the player report:

Result: SUP 5km Hardboard 14ft and under Men
00:34:51 Winner
"After starting at a 5km beach start, the race went around an offshore buoy, returned to shore and then went back and forth in the calm waters of the tetrapods.
As for the development, I was outside the tetrapods offshore, so the wind was blowing strongly and I couldn't catch up with the first place swimmer. After that, I went inside the tetrapods, and in the calm waters I was able to improve my form and get behind the first place swimmer. After that, I was sometimes in the lead and sometimes in second place.
As for things to reflect on, I wasn't able to take the inside at the turn, I wasn't able to make a compact turn, and I was overtaken before the final turn, so I ended up in second place.
Board: FLY PRO 22.5
Paddle: KK V3 2pcs
Fin: Wizard
He only started SUP last year.
The first race I participated in was on the inflatable leisure board, KOKUA GLIDE.
He bought a racing board with his saved pocket money and has been steadily practicing in his hometown of Enoshima, Fujisawa. Although he has little experience, he is a hard worker and is improving day by day. This race was a testament to the results of his efforts.
